There are numerous hotels both in downtown Washington, DC, and in the suburbs, e.g. in downtown Silver Spring (on the Maryland side) or Old Town Alexandria (on the Virginia side). We have arranged the following rates:
Washington Marriott Hotel at Metro Center — 30 rooms at $189/day (+14.5% DC hotel tax) from Sunday, June 26, through Saturday, July 2 (6 nights total). This rate is valid through May 30, 2016. The hotel is about 25-30 minutes away from Howard. You can make the reservation online through our special reservation page or call Marriott Reservations at 1-800-393-2510 and mention “Permutation Patterns”. This price is about 10% cheaper than the current lowest online price found at Kayak or similar online booking websites. These rooms may be shared by up to 4 people (so says the reservation page). We are have reserved a block of rooms at the Howard University dorms for those who have indicated on their registration form or emailed the organizers at they would prefer a dorm room. At this point, dorm room availability is no longer guaranteed, so if you would like to stay in the dorms, please ask the organizers about dorm room availability before proceeding to payment. Please let us know by Friday, May 20, if you intend to stay in the dorms, and if so, whether you would like a single room or to share a double room (and with whom, if you have a preference, otherwise see below) as well as your planned dates of arrival and departure. The dorm room rates are as follows (copied from the Summer Housing Brochure): Lodging (per person/per night): single — $53/night, double — $43/night per person Additional services may be purchased (the total is $53/6 days or $45/5 days): Linen: $20/5 days and $3 for each additional day (includes bed linen, bath and wash towels, pillow cases and bedspread) Bathroom package: $25/5 days and $5 for each additional day (includes soap, toilet paper, trash can and liner, and shower curtain) per person
If you would like to share a room with another participant staying at a hotel, you can either find your own roommate or email us at email@example.com to add your name to, and see, our current list. We will not pair up people, only keep a list of those looking to share a room, so you can arrange your own roommate.
